Where was the UN when Hamas was launching Rockets
at Sedrot? Where was the UN when the Palestinians voted Hamas as their new ruling party? Where was the UN when Hamas smuggled arms and weapons into Gaza?
Where was the UN for the unfortunate civilian casualties in the Tamil incursion, where 65 000 civilians have lost their lives?
Where was the UN protecting Palestinian Civilians?
What about the Violation of the Security Council's Resolution 1540 (2004)? (pdf, especially point 3d. and Resolution 1566 (2004) (pdf especially points 1-7)
But really, if you go through the Middle East Resolutions, you will find that nothing is done to help the victims of Sedrot, nor the Qassam Rockets being fired...
Only in Resolution 1832 (2008) (pdf) point 7. is a vague reference to peace...,and lets not forget the exploitation of the UN's own forces of civilians - point 5. Which seems to be more important than the death of Israeli Civilians.
The UN Security Council and International Community is adopting double standards in its treatment of the Israeli-Hamas Conflict. It is more interested in preventing violence committed by UN Officials, than Israelis or Palestinians
The UN Security Council is quick to establish a cease-fire because of the loss of life in Gaza, especially of innocent civlian children. But when did the UN Security Council establish proper means of establishing a removal of the Terrorists and Suicide Bombers that claimed the lives of innocent Israeli children?
The BBC News Report comments: "However, the 15-strong UN Security Council failed to agree on a resolution condemning the attack because of reservations from temporary member Libya, which sought to link it to Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip."
The UN can't seem to provide stability in the region and that is the overarching problem - lets face it, the IDF protects Israel, and no-one really cares about the loss of Israeli lives. When the UN realizes that peace and a ceasefire that will last is dependent upon the safety and security of both Israel, and the Palestinian people - and not Hamas, and that a real peace must remove Hamas from the political and military table - that is the Palestinian people must vote a legitimate non-terrorist organization in power, and that Hamas must be completely removed as having any military, financial, political or any other control in the Palestinian Territories.
But the UN Security Council obviously only reacts when Palestinian schools are accidentally shelled....but not when Hamas bombards Israel with rockets everyday. What about actually enforcing Resolution 1566? Or is the Security Council full of good advice for those that actually listen?
But the active agencies that the UN endorses and funds is failing hopelessly. Its time the truth about UNRWA (UN Reliefs and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East), be revealed:

1. Civilian targets, that were established with American money in improving the lives of the children of the Palestinains, are used for attacking Israel 2. Violation of a Ceasefire that the IDF was forced to do, based on UN SC Resolutions because of the unintentional bombing of a school, admitted to have mortar shelling by Hamas on the IDF 3. Hamas doesn't need to uphold the Geneva Convention - it is a terrorist organization. It has no respect nor correct military conduct, for the UN, or anyone else!
On the eve of the Sukkot holiday, September 29, 2004, Yuval Abebah (alt spelling
- Abebeh), 4, and Dorit
Benisian, 2, were killed by a Qassam rocket fired from Gaza at the Israeli town of Sderot. Yuval and Dorit were the first victims of
the Qassam rockets, which became more lethal as they grew in size.
Yuval and Dorit were cousins. They were children of immigrants from Ethiopia,
visiting their grandmother. They were playing outside the house, on Haggai Street, beneath an olive tree, when the
Qassam hit them. They suffered massive injuries and both died shortly afterwards in hospital. About 30 people were
wounded in the attack, for which Hamas claimed responsibility.
